How Placement Works
Every facility listing on this directory is ordered by a clear, published set of rules. No hidden algorithms, no pay-to-win beyond your plan tier, no favoritism. This page explains exactly how it works and how to calculate your own position on any given day.
Free Plan
Free Listings
Free listings appear below Standard and Premium listings in their city. Among Free listings, order is alphabetical by facility name with one exception: facilities that have installed the verified badge on their website appear above those that have not.
That is the only factor that can change a Free listing's position. Everything else is fixed, predictable, and identical for every free facility. No payment required. No action required to stay listed. But if you want to move up within the free tier, installing the badge on your website is the one thing that does it.
Standard Plan
Standard Listings
Standard listings appear above all Free listings in their city. Among Standard listings in the same city, order is determined by profile completeness. The more complete your profile the higher you appear. This rewards the effort you put into your listing and means patients always see the richest, most informative listings first.
Profile completeness is calculated from six signals: photos uploaded, insurance filled in, direct phone number added, custom tagline written, facility description completed, and verified badge installed on your website. Every one of these is a feature included in your Standard plan. The score is recalculated every 24 hours and improving any signal improves your position among Standard listings immediately.
Premium Plan
Premium Listings
Premium listings appear above Standard and Free listings. Among Premium listings in the same city, there is no completeness competition. Instead, a transparent monthly rotation guarantees every Premium facility exactly equal top-position exposure over each 30-day cycle. At this tier the algorithm is purely fair, no profile optimization required, no ongoing effort needed to maintain your position.
For example, 6 Premium facilities in one city means each gets 5 days in position 1, 5 days in position 2, and so on. The rotation resets on the 1st of each calendar month and is based on facility slug, which is deterministic and not random. You can calculate your exact position on any given day using the formula published below.

Premium placement rotation is deterministic not random. We publish the formula here so you never have to take our word for it. You can verify your position on any day independently.
Position = ((dayOfMonth - 1 + facilityIndex) % totalPremiumInCity) + 1
Where:
dayOfMonth = current day of the month (1 to 31)
facilityIndex = your facility's index in the alphabetical Premium list for your city (0-based)
totalPremiumInCity = total number of Premium facilities in your city % = modulo operator
Example: It is the 15th of the month. Your facility is 3rd alphabetically among 6 Premium listings in your city. Your position today is ((15 - 1 + 2) % 6) + 1 = (16 % 6) + 1 = 4 + 1 = position 5. Tomorrow on the 16th you move to position 6. The day after you cycle back to position 1.
Google Search
What about Google?
Your position on drugrehabilitationnearme.com and your position on Google are two completely separate things. We control the order facilities appear on our directory pages. We have zero control over the other.
When someone searches Google for "rehab centers in Alabama" and your facility appears in the results, that ranking is determined entirely by Google's algorithm. It is based on your website's authority, your Google Business Profile, the relevance of your content, and hundreds of other signals that Google evaluates independently.
No plan on this directory Free, Standard, or Premium has any influence on your Google ranking. Paying us more does not make Google rank you higher. Paying us nothing does not make Google rank you lower. Anyone who tells you otherwise is not being honest with you.
What we do affects your visibility within our directory only. What Google does is entirely Google's decision.

If we ever change how this works
If we ever change the placement algorithm for any reason every facility owner will receive an email notification at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The updated rules will be published on this page before they go live.
We will never make a retroactive change that disadvantages a facility without notice. That is a promise, not a policy.
